THE PLATE, EXPLAINED

About this dish

Flavor, preparation notes, and ingredient information live here so ordering stays simple above.

Slow-braised beef and hearty black beans meet a classic Chinese five-spice blend, creating five distinct notes that harmonize into deep umami: sweet warmth from cinnamon, bright licorice from star anise, earthy depth from cloves, herbal savoriness from fennel, and a subtle citrus tingle that lifts the finish. Together, these flavors bring balance rather than heat. The result is a rich, aromatic stew that is comforting, layered, and deeply satisfying.
